How It Works

Sportopotty is a crowd-sourced scouting report for the bathrooms at ball fields, parks, and the places nearby. Parents on the sidelines file the intel. Everybody else gets to know before they go.

Start Here

1. Find a Bathroom πŸ”Ž

Open the map. Every pin is a bathroom somebody has actually stood in.

Whatever you set, the results stay inside it. We draw the circle right on the map and the list holds only what falls in it. If nothing's there we say so β€” and offer a button to search the whole country, rather than quietly reaching three states over to fill the list.

Not on the Map Yet? Search Still Finds It

Places nobody has pinned come back under Not Mapped Yet, just below the results, with Go Here to fly to it and πŸ“ Drop a Pin Here to pin it on the spot, already named.

The Sportopotty map page: filters panel on the left, ranked results list in the middle, and pins on the map to the right.
The map page β€” filters, results, and pins side by side.

πŸ’‘ Set your ZIP code on your profile and the map opens in your home region every time.

2. Read the πŸ’© Score

Zero to five, and it runs backwards on purpose: more πŸ’© is worse.

ScoreMeaning
✨ 0Spotless — take your time
πŸ’© 1Clean — totally fine
πŸ’©πŸ’© 2Fine — standard park bathroom
πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’© 3Iffy — hover, don't linger
πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’© 4Rough — bring wipes and courage
πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’© 5Hazmat — find a Dunkin' off the exit

The number on a pin is its 30 Day/Avg β€” only the last month counts, so one bad April doesn't haunt a field that got a deep clean in June. If a bathroom goes quiet for 30 days we show its most recent report and label it Last Known.

Every report also answers the three things you actually want to know: 🧻 TP Index (stocked, low, or out), πŸ”’ lock status, and whether there's a 🚼 changing table.

3. Add What You Know πŸ“

Create a free account, hit πŸ“ Drop a Pin, drag the marker onto the door, and file the report. We read the map data and suggest the location name for you.

No bathroom at all? Pick NO BATHROOM FOUND at the bottom of the style list. The rating questions disappear, the pin saves in caution yellow, and your note β€” "locked all season", "porta-potties hauled away in October" β€” is what the next family reads. On a team, tick Tell my team and everyone gets it by email before they load the car.

In a hurry? A πŸ‘ Still Accurate takes one second and clears the stale warning without inventing a rating nobody gave. A πŸ‘Ž It's Changed does the opposite; once three people disagree, the pin is publicly marked Disputed.

Everything Else, Briefly

What the Pin Colors Mean 🎨

  • Blue β€” a rated bathroom Somebody has been there and filed a report. Tap it for the 30 Day/Avg, the TP Index, and the lock status.
  • Yellow β€” no bathroom here Somebody checked this spot and found nothing open to the public. There's no cleanliness score, because there's nothing to score. Read the note on the pin and plan a stop on the way.

Filters & Sort πŸŽ›οΈ

Narrow by sport, venue, bathroom style, maximum πŸ’© score, or TP Index. Sort by cleanest, dirtiest, most rated, or freshest intel. On a phone the common filters sit in a scrolling rail under the search; the full set is behind ☰ Filters.

Every Pin Has Its Own Page πŸ—‚οΈ

Current Condition, what parents wrote, and a dated History timeline so you can see whether a place is getting better or worse. Intel older than 7 days is flagged stale.

Announcements That Expire πŸ“’

"Locked for the tournament." "Water shut off." Post one, choose how long it runs, and it takes itself down β€” up to 60 days. Notes filed with a rating stay put.

Favorites

Tap the heart on any pin and it lands in My Favorites on your profile. For the fields you're at every week, and the one gas station you trust on the drive to away games.

My Teams 🏟️

The group text is where bathroom intel goes to die. Create a team, share the invite link, and get a shared feed, shared pins, team favorites, and email alerts each member can switch on or off. As many teams as you have kids.

Your Profile πŸ‘€

Sign up with an email or with Google. Set your ZIP and the map opens there every time. Add your name, nickname, and sports; see your stats; change your password or delete your account outright. Mobile number is optional β€” alerts arrive by email for now, and we never sell or share it.

Share & Directions πŸ”—

πŸ”— Share and 🧭 Directions sit on every pin page. Shared links carry a preview of the name and condition, and they never break β€” even if someone fixes a typo in the name.

Keeping It Clean (the Other Kind) πŸ›‘οΈ

Families use this site, so everything written here runs through moderation before it posts. Anything borderline is held for a human. There's a 🚩 report button on every pin and announcement.

On Your Phone πŸ“±

List and πŸ—Ί Map swap with one button, and a search lands you on the list β€” the answer to "what's near Toledo" is a list of places, not a rectangle of the map. Map Β· Teams Β· Profile live in the bar along the bottom; everything else is in the ☰ menu.

For Businesses πŸͺ

If your cafΓ©, gas station, or restaurant sits near a field, parents are already talking about your bathroom. Claim your listing to keep the details right and get found.

Pin It Forward 🀝

Conditions change. A ranger unlocks the pavilion, the TP runs out at noon, the porta-potties get hauled away. Update the pin, tap a thumb, or post a notice so the families showing up after you know what you know.

"You have gotta know before you go."
